| Ha anyone had any experience with the "Dovetail systems"
Adjustable shank. Have a client who has worn out the lock on 2
MAB superfits and I need something that is going to work for
More than a year at a time. She readily admits taking the ring
off many times a day. Any other ideas will also be appreciated. Thanks Stew |

In looking around for more people who have experienced problems with our competition, we often come across postings on forums like the above, posted on the Polygon Jeweler's Channel in 2000. Here a client remarks on the short life expectancy of our competitor's system. Unfortunately, the general population can't always find remarks like this because such channels are closed to the public. Furthermore, in this particular case, the person who posted claims not to recall ever having a problem, even though this post is still available in the Polygon archives (for those of you with a membership). However, there are often times where the information is more readily available. In these cases, it often seems that a blatant flaw is proposed as a feature, or is deemed to be the user's fault. Talk About Holding On By Your FingernailsTake for example these images we found at www.newyorkfindings.com (as of 04/2004). The ring shown to the left has a clear gap in the closing mechanism! It is holding on by a little hangnail "safety". This is a sign that the scuff bumps are gone and any vibration that enters the ring will cause the "safety" to back off (and it need only back off one tenth of a millimeter), and the ring will be gone. There is no retention spring. Please CLICK HERE to see our video demonstration of this phenomenon. The video has proven that it is no longer a possibility but has become a certainty. |

This is the same ring, but it shows no gap?!? This can be readily explained due to the fact that the ring is upright. Gravity has done the job of pulling the bands together! |

This is exactly what we're talking about when we claim "No wiggle, no wobble, no jiggle" in the Creates P.F.F. Ringlock. |

This is a clear example of the gap |

| If they are opened wrong by an uneducated owner the results can be catastrophic. This leads me to the one weakness of the superfit shank, which is also one of its strengths. When it does come open, it opens all the way and falls off. Many of the other kinds of shanks that do not open all the way, will only be Loose and sloppy and noticeable. But the superfit ring will fall off. We had 2 Cases of this within about 6 months(ouch) we traced both instances to poor Opening technique. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This excerpt from www.ganoksin.com (which is publicly available) was first seen by us in 2003, but was posted all the way back in 1997. After contacting the author this year, we found that his opinion of our competition's product had soured further. At first considering the problem to be that of the owner of the ring mis-using it, he had nothing but praise for our competition. However, experience and time have shown him otherwise. He now believes that people who don't have problems haven't used them long enough. He also stated that he "votes with his dollars"... and you can bet our competition doesn't get that vote now! What our competition doesn't seem to realize is that people who need these rings, need them because they WILL use them often. Perhaps some clients only put on their rings for company, to show them off with a cup of tea, but the vast majority, they need a ring that can be removed often without wearing out prematurely. |
